Calling all skinny people!

Posted by Beany on May 18, 1998 at 14:56:41:

I'm not sure if I'm in the minority, but I'm 34 years old, 5'9", weigh 135 lbs., and have been diagnosed with moderate OSA. My doctor put me on CPAP immediately and recommended UPPP as a corrective measure. The thought of surgery scares me. I'm reading the various posts on UPPP, somnoplasty, and I recall reading a few posts on a procedure that involved jaw reconstruction.

I have no idea what I should be looking at first as far as alternatives to CPAP. I'm sure that I have a soft upper palate (if I lie on my back and try to talk, my voice sounds like I have a stuffed nose), small nasal passages, hayfever, and short chin.

I'd like to know from other "skinny" people, what choices did they make and what they recommend. Thanks!
