Posted by John on May 19, 1998 at 19:04:03:1st sleep study in February. Showed OSA and RLS. Started using cpap with machine set on 10. I also started taking sinemet. Could not sense a lot of results like the dramatic results that most all seem to have in this forum. So they sent out a 2nd machine with varying pressures and a "computer attachment." The recommended pressure from 2nd study was 18. Am now using this 2nd cpap machine which is set on 8 and 18. The machine is nice. It is quiet and my wife is happy. She no longer has to listen to me snore or stay awake at night to poke me when I quit breathing. However, I still do not feel dramatically better. I use the goldseal gel mask. Some nights it is tight. Some nights there are a lot of leaks. The leaks wake me up. The leaks occur when I turn over or change positions. I do use chin strap. Basically I guess I'm adjusted to the mask. Have thought that pillows might be an option to pursue however.
Also, I had ENT consult who said I was strong candidate for all of that surgery too. I am not convinced from this forum that it is a good thing though. I did hear of another ENT doc who uses laser and could do a consult with him. Past few days though it seems that things are getting back to where they were before cpap. I am starting to again feel like needing to sleep at my desk while at work. I will use cpap because I do not want to suffer the potential consequences of untreated OSA. Still I wish I did not feel tired. Does anyone please have any suggestions or comments? The insurance co and the cpap providers (who have been great) just say that some people do not notice a difference or that perhaps cpap is just not helping. I have not seen the dr to relay these thoughts. Thank you in advance for your help.
