Hi, Mike,
Your fatigue and flu-like symptoms strongly hint at fibromyalgia (which I have). Very often thyroid problems and sleep problems or disorders run along with this. However, you don't have to have all to indicate fibromyalgia. (This is closely related to chronic fatigue syndrome but not the exact same.) Fibromyalgia causes light sleep which can contribute to your moods and aches and pains. If I were you, I strongly recommend, you see a rheumatologist. This doctor has a special exam he does where he presses certain areas of the body. If there's tenderness there and you have a certain number of these areas (I can't remember now how many) fibromyalgia is indicated. There are no definitive tests for FMS. It's a pretty vague condition with lots of possible symptoms that not all people with it have. However, it IS REAL. Don't let any doctor tell you it's not. There's still a few out there that don't believe it exists because they don't have a pinpoint test. There is lots of info on the internet and even forums if you are interested. But please check with a doctor. There's no known cure. But it's not a life-threatening disease. It can go into remission for awhile. Stress tends to make it worse. So check with your doctor and do some research. Good luck and God bless!
