7yr old with family wide sleep apnea- treatments?

Posted by Deb Dickerson on May 22, 1998 at 13:04:51:

I am 39 and have been taking dexidrine for my sleep apnea.
My daughter is 7 and has the simptoms so our local sleep clinic did a sleep study on her. Along with this they did a blood test which came back with double just as mine did.
The doctor did not want to diagnose her because she was 7.
He then sent us to a Neuroligest who in writting notafied our sleep doctor that she has a sleep disorder and must have some type of treatment. We have had no help as of how to help her. She is very stressed most of the time, she has had problems in school and it is all because she is tired.

If we could let her she would sleep 12 hours a night and then be fine for a while. Of course this is not possable.

We realize there has only been 1 case documented of a child her age (so we were told). We need help so we can help her.
What can we do other then of course give her drugs?

Someone please contact us we are desperately looking for information on treatment of a 7 year old.
