Hi Jo, I'm George from DuBois, PA. I have been using a Respironics BiPAP-ST for almost 5 years now (well over 11,000 hrs. on the meter). I am a truck driver who spends 3 to 5 nights a week on the road. My BiPAP, at 5 yrs. of age, is now an "older model". The newer ones are smaller, lighter, and more highly computerized. I have never had any mechanical trouble with my unit, and all I do is keep it clean, change the filter regularly, and have it checked yearly by my local service provider for calibration.
There are a variety of masks available, as you well know. I use two different ones. My primary is a Respironics Gold Seal. It is gel-filled and comes in 7 sizes. It's the most comfortable one I've ever tried. For backup and especially in my truck I use a Res mask system. This is smaller, but it blows air down and away from your face, and this can be annoying to your bed partner.(my Gold Seal exhausts up and away and just ruffles any loose papers on the headboard)
I can share further with you, if you wish. Just e-mail me
