My friend has suffered from excessive dreaming for
at least nine years. She says these dreams are so vivid she has a hard time knowing whether she dreamed an experience or whether it happened in real life. However, these dreams mostly deal with everyday events, such as vacuuming or making spaghetti for dinner. She told me once that she had no idea whether she had really made spaghetti for dinner or not until she went to the refrigerator to see if there was any spaghetti left.

She also feels that she dreams constantly--from the moment she closes her eyes until she wakes up in the morning. So if she dreams about cleaning her house all night, she wakes up as tired as if she had stayed up all night cleaning her house. And then in the morning when she sees her house is still dirty, she realizes it must have all been a dream.

Teal has seen at least one psychologist about her sleeping disorder, and has been evaluated at a sleep disorder clinic in Salt Lake City. The only thing anyone has been able to tell her is that she is dreaming excessively--which, of course, she already knew!

Recently we have found a couple individuals on the internet who seem to have the same problem and also have fibromyalgia. At least one of them thinks the fibromyalgia (which has symptoms that includes fatigue and painful muscles) might be related to the excessive dreaming and recommends seeing a rheumatologist for treatment. Teal picked up a pamphlet on fibromyalgia and thinks she might have those symptoms. She is going to make an appointment with a rheumatologist this week. Are we headed in the right direction?

Teal is desperate to have one night of sound, dreamless sleep. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful!
