health effects of hypopnea?

Posted by pbrien on May 28, 1998 at 12:16:08:

Does anyone know what the health effects (both short-term and long-term) are of severe hypopnea? I've learned that apnea can lead to stroke and other problems over the long-term, but don't know if hypopnea impairs health in the same way. Is there a medical reference I could use to learn more about specifically hypopnea's health implications? (This is important to me because I have lots of hypopneas when I sleep, and am resisting using my CPAP/full-face mask because it makes me feel claustrophophic. Of course, I'm trying to overcome this mental block, but I suspect that if I knew more about hypopnea's long-term health implications, I might find more will power to use the scary machine!) Thanks for any information! Paula
