I had an RDI of 71 and was tired of the CPAP machine/mask. My OSA doctor sent me to an ENT doctor for evaluation. A UP3 operation was suggested. After the operation on January 27, 1998 my RDI went from 71 to 9. No more CPAP machine/mask and my next OSA doctors
appointment is in May 1999.

The operation was not pleasant; however, I did my homework and found that I had a reasonable expectation that my situation would improve. I didn't pay too much attention to UP3 operation success/failure statistics because I based my decision on my specific medical parameters after discussions with my GP, OSA, ENT and pulmonary doctors.

I would suggest you visit your ENT doctor again and get his/her opinion concerning a UP3 operation. Discuss the results with your OSA doctor. It may not be the way for you to go.

I invested time, money and pain. The return on my investment is better health and no more CPAP machine/mask.

Best of luck,

Richard
