Hello David...
Indeed, Washington does require a prescription for C/BiPAPs...I'm not sure where Kaye is from - perhaps a prescription isn't legally required in her part of the world. While "pressure prescriptions" are required here, my BiPap tech tells me he sees more than a few machines whose security features have been bypassed and the pressure increased waaaay over the prescription level....his comment was that this is traditionally found on machines used by men...when I asked why someone would do that (Jo quickly digs a foxhole and dives for cover) he said...."It's a guy thing....you know, more is better"....
Seriously folks...why would someone increase their own pressure? It happens enough that manufacturers note, in their marketing information, that pressure setting mechanisms aren't easily discernable/accessed by users.
