Wal-Mart carries a mouth guard in their sporting goods dep't. that sells for around a dollar. (Not the big one with a strap) It is a clear plastic U-shaped device made of a soft plastic. You dip it in boiling water to soften it, then bite on it to form it. I usually buy several at a time, use one until rinsing it in the morning doesn't remove the yukky look, throw it away, and start another.
Depending on the size of your teeth, you may want to trim a little material off the top, as it can irritate your upper gums as you chew on it overnight. My dentist wanted $300.00 for a custom made appliance that does exactly the same thing.
