I thought it might be of interest to you that my daughter had surgery 1 week ago. They finally decided the cyst was blocking the aqueduct and preventing a smooth flow of spinal fluid. They performed an endoscopic third ventriculostomy. Basically it was a bypass of sorts. So far she is doing great. Her last spinal tap in Dec. "98" her pressure was 510, one of the highest they had ever seen, hence the surgery was done pretty soon afterwards because her headaches returned within 1 week. If all goes well this is all she will need. If for some reason it doesn't do the job then a shunt will be put in.
