I teach surgical technology students to work in the O.R. I noticed one of my students may have sleep disorder.due to symptoms and dangerous behavior in operating room that she did not remember doing. Got her set up for sleep study...and she was determined to have narcolepsy. She just started meds yesterday..ritalin..my question is..since I have to be both concerned with patient safety first and then the students welfare..do you think that the operating room is a possible place for a person with narc to work?? Will meds take a period of time to stabalize her behavior? Her doc suggests naps during the day which is hard to do in operating room setting...any other suggestions?? I would appreciate any help as soon as possible..thanks
