Your friend should make an appointment to see a
physician who is board-certified in sleep medicine. It is possible that he may have several things going on. Because of his age, delayed sleep phase syndrome is always a question. The other symptom you are describing could also be indicative of other disorders. Please see the American Adademy of Sleep Medicine's web site. They can give you a list of physicians and accredited sleep centers in your area. Good luck.
