You can have allergy shots to desensitize your son for cats. This is a common shot. The allergy is not really to the cat, but to the cat's dander, which I believe is the flaks of skin, etc that fall off the cat just like layers of skin fall of off people each day. Get rid of the cat, and stay away from cats until he builds up a resistance to cats natually or through allergy shots. By the waym allergy shots are not painful. They are administered directly under the skin so the needle barely enters the arm. They'll be over before you know it. Start with once a week, and once the resistance is build up, you can go every two weeks, etc.
