A Theory of Common Origin proposes the existence of a
group of disorders, all of previously unknown aetiology, that share a common stimulus of origin and whose characteristics derive from the reponse of their respective target tissues to that stimulus.Where the response is uninhibited [as in psoriasis], the result is accelerated
tissue growth, where inhibited, tissue degeneration and eventually death,[as in Alzheimer's disease]. A third response of simple end organ hyperstimulation may also occur [as in myoclonus]. Etc.
