I have been checking and the Am Thoracic Soc has a position paper on PSG in children which is a classic and should be read by all. It seems the general consensus is at "puberty" the criteria change. Some say 12 yrs. others say 14 yrs. I couldn't find a specific word from Shelton but it may be in his atlas. Also children don't show arousals like adults, apneas are often shorter, many think UARS and RERAS are of significance, many say use etco2 to detect. It is all on a contimuim and not a sudden change hence the art of medicine.
