Posted by hari on April 05, 2003 at 18:54:24:73 yr old male hx of eds, snoring, witnessed apneas. hx of hbp, lvef of 45%. no cva. pt is in cleveland area.
split psg: good study. 14 central apneas, 93 obstructive and 30 hypopneas with rdi of 75.8.
cpap/bipap titration: at 5 to 9 cm pressures hypopneas, osa and csa. at bipap 8/4 osa abolished but contd csa and with higher pressures increased csa.
question?: 1.significance of csa on psg? 2. how do u treat? 3. if bipap used what do u do with csa?
note: the pt. clinically is not in chf and is well compensated. no cva. at lower bipap osa / csa obvious.
