The Mallampati / Calgary thing came from the lack of another system for
descrbing the posterior oropharynx.
Mallampati is in the literature and describes how much of the soft palate is
visible looking into the mouth
Calgary is not widely published (only an abstract from ATS) but is a quick
way of describing how narrow the soft palatal arch is.
I had included the M/C descriptions because it was easier than editing them
out, and I had the idea that it might provoke discussion during the course
and perhaps even a better description template.
