infant vomiting at bedtime

Posted by Andrew on February 13, 2000 at 11:15:32:

I have two questions to be addressed r/e my son who is 1 year old.

1) He is just been weaned from the breast and we are having difficulty putting him to bed without a bottle. Recently we began putting him to bed with a H2O bottle, not milk. We do not wish to introduce a pacifier. Please advise on the best methods to get him to go to sleep on his own.

2) If he does not fall asleep with the bottle when put in his crib he gets himself so worked up that he vomits, often entire meals. We find ourselves having to clean the floor, crib sheets and changing PJ's after each event. This vomiting usually occurs only minutes after crying begins, , shortly after bedtime. We understand the importance behind putting the child to bed awake in his crib and allowing him to comfort himself but cannot tolerate this vomitting. Please also note that we do not have this problem during daytime naps nor does this occur in the middle of the night as he is able to get himself back to sleep at a late hour.

Please help...
