I suggested the crying thing before I knew that our son has RSV, pnemonia, and double ear infections. When they are healthy, letting them cry is okay, I think. Now it is easier to be patient with him at 2a.m. knowing that he is crying for a good reason. Tubes will be our next step. We have had four ear infections in 8 months. Sometimes there is a good reason that they wake up at night, other times I think they are just spoiled!
