We woke our son to eat every 3-4 hours as directed by our pediatrician until he was 4 weeks old. At that point we were so exhausted that we stopped. We made the decision after going to the pediatricians office for a weight check just to make sure he was doing all right. Things just got better and better for us after we stopped waking him. He began to sleep until 3 or 4 on his own and at 12 weeks he sleeps until 5 or 6 on his own and then goes back down for a few hours. Believe me - there are still night when this doesn't happen, but they are no longer the norm.
