Adjusting sleep schedule?

Posted by Curious on February 21, 2000 at 05:43:45:

I recently put up a message about letting our newborn sleep through the feeding times, and I appreciate the input received. Now I have another question. Right now he has 3 really good sleeping periods: he'll go down around 6 or 7 in the evening, wake up around 10 or 11 to eat...sleep until 2 or 3, eat, then asleep again, up at 5, but then is fussy until around 7. Is there a way to push that early evening sleeping period up to where he'd fall asleep around 8 or 9? Then I'm hoping he'd wake up around midnight for a feeding, then sleep until around 4, feed again, and hopefully sleep until 7-8. I'd really like to try to get on this schedule. Then when he's older, we can try to eliminate that 4 in the morning feeding. Of course I realize this is an ideal scenario, and is entirely dependant on the baby's cooperation. Does anyone have any ideas on ways to "adjust" my baby to try to sleep per this schedule?
