Untuned radio to stop crying and induce sleep

Posted by Helen on February 21, 2000 at 08:20:52:

I have found that my 8 week old will stop crying(even when screaming with colic) and become instantly calm and soothed when I put the radio on - it has to be at a fair volume and not tuned to any station but just the hissing noise. She falls asleep to the noise and stays asleep until I switch the radio off - sometimes longer.

Has anyone else found this works, and is it safe to keep her asleep with the untuned radio all night ??
