6 week old sleep schedule

Posted by Jess on May 21, 2000 at 13:18:48:

Does anyone have any advice on how to get my 6 week old on a schedule?? He is now eating between 5 and 6 oz. at every feeding, but still only goes for about 3 hours between them. My husband works the night shift, so I am alone with the baby all night and a good part of the day while my husband gets some sleep. If I could get my baby to go even 4-5 hours between feedings, I would be doing a lot better. Also, my baby never seems to want to stay in his crib in the mornings. He wakes up around 5:30 every morning and won't go back to sleep in his crib. However, he will sleep an extra 2-3 hours if I bring him into the bed with me (and I hate doing this but I REALLY need that extra sleep!) He sleeps in his crib fine all night, only waking up to eat. Are there any suggestions about how to keep him in his crib in the mornings and is allowing him in the bed with me for a couple of hours in the AM a bad idea?? Thanks sooo much! Jess
