5 month old not sleeping well

My five month old son is not sleeping through the night. He seems to roll over onto his stomach and can't roll back over onto his back which causes him to wake up and scream because he is frustrated! He goes down about 9 p.m. and wakes up at about 1 a.m. and then has trouble from then on out. I don't want to try the "cry it out" method is there any help for me? I also feed him before he goes to be so he is not hungry. HELP
