I spoke with my pediatrician after letting my child cry it out again and again...and even for SEVEN hours one day without giving it up to sleep. He told me that he's never heard of a child not giving in after that long, and to back off and give the child what he wants for now - and that he will eventually outgrow it. I am somewhat relieved that I do not have to let my child cry, but I don't necessarily agree with letting my child dictate the rules. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can "wean" my son from having to be held for his naps? We've tried getting him into deeper sleep stages before putting him down, but its as though he has telepathy and can tell when he is being lowered into his crib! We've tried the floor, playpen, etc. and nothing works. Please help! Like I said, he goes down fine at night, but its probably partially due to exhaustion. HELP!!!
