2 year old won't sleep HELP!!!!!

HELP!!!! My 2yrs won't sleep, he is up every 30 to 40 mins all night long and wakes very tired and angry. he is always hit, kicking and bitting, and lossing total control during the day. I know that he would be a lovely child if we could get him to sleep all night. Once a week he goes to either my mothers or my mother-n-laws house over night so I can sleep,while he is thee he sleeps 12 to 14 hours straight. and is so great the next day. I am at a loss as to why he will sleep everywhere else but at home. Am I alone, if you have or are having the same problem please let me know!!!!
