Hmmm,

This is very common for an infant. I did not go through this as a child but I do remember my younger brother going through this. Do you work? Are you with him day in and day out? Does he seem to be closer to you or your hubby or both? It sounds that he has developed a security issue. Scared to be alone. He may even cry a great deal when you have ot leave him with a baby sitter. This is not a sleeping issue more of a feeling safe issue. He may have had a terror dream and feels safe with you around him.
