suggestions for getting a 5 wk old to sleep?

Posted by paranoidmom on July 31, 2000 at 10:16:19:

Hi. Thank you to the moms who gave me advice before. Joshua is having more frequent BMs now so he isn't constipated anymore. He is still spitting up a lot. The doctors keep saying not to switch his formula (he is eating Similac w/ iron). If there is a formula that is easier to digest, why wouldn't they want me to try it? He is also more fussy now. He cries when I try to burp him, which may be contributing to his spitting up. He is fussy when I stop feeding him. He is fussy when he is tired but he won't go to sleep. All the book say to put him down when he is still awake but he won't go to sleep on his own. Any suggestions on getting a 5 week old baby to sleep? My husband wants to let him cry it out but I think he is too young for that. I try to rock him but as soon as I put him down, he wakes up. I can't hold him 24/7. When does spitting up and sleeping get better/easier for a baby? Help!!!
