The thing you need to establish is a consitant feeding, wake and nap schedule. It will be hard at first but eventually they will get it. Here is an example of a schedule I used. Feed time was 30 min. wake time was 1 hour and 1/2. The baby is up a total of 2 hrs. Then you put them in the bed for a nap. I did rock my for about 10 min. to help relax them but majority of the time she was still awake but relaxed. They probably cry for a while. I tried to keep myslef busy durning this time because it was hard for me to listen to mine cry. After twenty minutes you can try consoling the baby but the goal is for them to figure out how to put them self to sleep with out you having to rock or do all the other things. I know people will not agree with this but my daughter went to in home day care while I finished out the school year and with out my knowledge my siter put her on her stomach once she could roll over. My daughter did sleep better that way. Although I was scared I let her sleep on her stomach and she is fine. My neighbor son would only sleep on his stomach for what ever reason and she let him doing. I checked on her off and on. That has to be your decision. Someone told me that are parents probably had us sleep on our backs and look we are fine. Its up to you. I think its okay at night for them to fall asleep to the bottle but there will come a time when that won't work anymore. I always give my child a bath and then their night time bottle. The bath helps to relax them. I had my child in bed by 7:30 and then at 10:00 or 10:30 I gave her the night time feeding. I can't remember when you drop that feeding but check the book. Is he still taking a 10:00 feeding? It sounds like he is only going through the first sleep cycle. I would let him cry for a few minutes and see if he will go back to sleep. Then check on him to see if he is okay and let him cry some more to see if he will go back to sleep. He should be taking 1 hour 1/2 to 2 hr. naps. Its hard because they cry alot at first but be consistant with what ever you decided to do. I know this is alot of information if I have not answered your question email me.
This will change depending on when he wakes up in the morning. He should be taking a catnap between 5pm and 6pm but right now that won't work because he is napping durning that time. My child went to bed at 7:30 and woke up at 7:00-7:30 the next day. They say the better they sleep druning the day the better they sleep at night.
Schedule
5am-7am feed/waketime
7am-9am nap
9am-11am feed/waketime
11am-1pm nap
1pm-3pm feed/waketime
3pm-5pm nap
5pm- feed/waketime
7:30-feed put into bed
10:30-feed put into bedGood luck
