Sounds like Dejavu. My baby was the same at 2 mos. She is 6 mos now and rarely naps more than 1 hour at a time during the day, however, she is sleeping through the night, but still wakes ocassionally. So rest assured your baby sounds normal. Here are some of the things that worked for us, they may work for you or not, keep an open mind and tender heart.
I kept her up as much as possible through the day, so she would go to sleep at night. I wouldn't let her sleep past 4 pm and would give her a bath @ 7 pm and nurse and rock her to sleep at 7:30. She goes to sleep at 9 pm now, so understand that their sleeping habits change.
I use to have to use white noises to soothe her, e.g., running water, untuned radio station, clothes dryer. Some nights we would go for a car ride, or a stroller ride around the house. As far as being cranky, that too will subside with age, and they have a little more control and can do more things. In the meantime, hold him close, take him for stroller rides, and try taking off his clothes. Baby's love to go nude (make sure your house is warmer though).
Hope this helps.
