The National Sleep Foundation and other sleep groups will hold a Public Policy & Sleep Leadership Forum on Monday, March 26, from 1pm-5pm, in Washington, DC, prior to meetings with congressional representatives on Tuesday, March 27 as part of other events celebrating National Sleep Awareness Week (March 26 – April 1).
This Forum is designed to help elevate the importance of sleep issues on the nation’s legislative agenda and empower volunteers to be effective sleep advocates. The Forum, coming in the first 100 days of the new Administration and Congress, will bring together sleep professionals, patients, drowsy driving victims and other volunteers nationwide who are dedicated to making sleep and fatigue issues a health and safety priority at the local and national levels.
Participants will hear from congressional members, discuss education and research programs with federal agency representatives, and be updated on the status of sleep-related research and policy issues. Most importantly, attendees will learn advocacy skills from professional consultants in preparation for individual meetings with their members of Congress on Tuesday afternoon, March 27, as well as local efforts throughout the year. The Forum is an excellent opportunity to network with others interested in sleep advocacy. Won’t you join us in Washington to let your representatives know how important sleep issues are to the nation’s health and safety? For more information, contact Darrel Drobnich, NSF Director of Government Affairs at (202) 347-3471, ext. 202 or via e-mail at ddrobnich@sleepfoundation.org or
