Consider yourself lucky! It isn't common, but some infants do indeed sleep through the night at this age, typically 6-9 hours straight. Occasionally, depending on whether your child has a cold, how much sleep he got, etc., he will sleep more or less. Your baby will wake up when he is hungry. You mentioned that your baby was three weeks late, which also does affect this situation. You can kind of consider him to be nearly two months old, and the differences from one to two months can be amazing. I bet he is more advanced and also larger than many babies his age. If this continues (so far, it sounds like this 12 hour sleeping was only once), I would recommend talking with your ped.
