"Getting" to sleep taking longer

Posted by Livvielou on February 16, 2001 at 11:30:06:

Hi! My 10 1/2 month old daughter has been taking much longer to get to sleep than she used too. I rock &/or nurse her down, but she has begun to bite & pull off breast quickly, and cry and fuss, sometimes scream. (point being that nursing hasn't been a part of the "get to sleep" picture for about two weeks or so, her choice) It takes about an hour to an hour-and-a-half to get her down, sometimes longer. I used to be able to accomplish this in 1/2 hour. i put her in my bed most of the time, sometimes had been putting her in crib, but she started waking up within 15 minutes and we'd start over to get her in the bed. Is this age notorious for "winding down" problems? I'm not completely discouraged, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
