Posted by Peter's Mummy on February 17, 2001 at 05:48:08:My son is almost 6 months old now. He is a very easy baby compared to his older sister. Up until recently (about 2 weeks) he slept next to me in bed, as he woke so frequently to nurse, I felt it easier on me not to get up. I decided that it may be the fact that I was next to him that encouraged his frequent night wakings, so we moved him to his crib. The move went well. He continued to get up a lot, so instead of putting him down asleep, with make make sure he is still awake for the most part, and let him fall asleep himself. He has mastered this. With my daughter, once she learned to fall asleep herself, she never woke again during the night.
Peter, however, continues to wake. He will sleep for about
4 hours intitially, then he will wake every 1-2 hours after
that until morning. I don't think he is hungry, he eats solids now, and nurses frequently throughout the day.
Looking back on when he was sleeping with me, he sure did
sleep fitfully during the 2nd half of the night. He would
cry, but in his sleep, until I repositioned him or
kept my breast in his mouth. I was quite tired of being the human pacifier.
Could there be something else waking him? I read in another
posting that someone theororized that it could be acid
reflux? Peter did sometimes fall asleep only after I propped his head up on the back of my legs(when we were in
bed together). I had not thought of this as a possibility,
until reading this.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
