My son now 2 and a half finally had a sleep study done at the request of a Neurologist who specializes in sleep disorders. Sleep apnea can be very serious and dangerous- cause for SIDS as well as heart failure. As far as I understand, Removal of the tonsils and adnoids is the primary first step -which is where we are at- but there is definately something that can be done!! After two years searching for someone who can help -it was the technician who preformed the sleep study that told us how ONLY a pediatric neurologist specializing in sleep disorders has any idea of the cause, treatments and severity of infant sleep apnea. I would strongly suggest persuing this further and not just trust the hospital... a second opinion from a specialist can never hurt!!
