Just wanted to add that with no night feedings, my daughter is now eating much better during the day! Before she kept refusing to nurse; the nurses I talked to thought it was a nursing strike, but she did it from about 2 months on. She was eating SO much at night. She would be hungry during the day, but wouldn't nurse or eat many solids. She'd regularly go 5-6 hours without feeding! She'd seem hungry and would be fussy/cranky, but still wouldn't eat, I tried everything - different positions, bath, low lights, very quiet, rocking, walking, lying, etc. If I was out of the house, forget it - she'd go up to about 6-7 hours without eating! She just nursed the other day in a nursing room at a MALL! It was SO nice for her to be comfortable and happy eating! The nurses and La Leche League volunteer I talked to were out of ideas, besides no night feedings. I think she associated eating just with sleeping; and she just ate too much at night.
(I understand that every baby is different; I'm sure many babies can eat at night, can be rocked to sleep, etc. and be very happy; but there are others who do better with different approaches!)
