17-Month Old Waking Up at Night

I generally don't have a problem getting my 17-month old daughter to sleep, she'll fall asleep in her crib when she is still awake. My problem is that she sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night (2AM for two nights running) and we've been bringing her to bed (I als nurse her) to get her back to sleep. My husband isn't comfortable with having her in bed with us and I'm looking for advice on helping get her back to sleep without the screaming. Crying it out makes me feel mean, like I am not meeting her needs. Any suggestions?
