Thanks for your response. I'll get more in depth here as to what his schedule is like. Long response . . .

He goes to bed about 7 p.m. (sometimes earlier depending on the afternoon napping problem) and wakes once for a feeding around 2 a.m. and then sleeps until 6ish. At this point he is really awake so we start his day. By 8:30 - 9 a.m. he is back in his crib for a nap. He usually doesn't show any signs of being tired but I just figure it is time. Usually, this nap will last from 50 minutes to an hour and a half. So figure he is consistently up by 10:30 a.m. Then the next nap is usually around 1. But - he usually is either tired before that or overtired by then. I've tried putting him down a little earlier and even a little later - neither has seemed to help extend the sleeping time to over a half hour. When I respond to his waking, he screams even harder. Oh - and he never wakes from this nap happy. He is always hollering at the top of his lungs. I think Weissbluth's way would be to leave him for at least an hour. But it seems so cruel when he is screaming like that and I know it is just working him up instead of blowing off steam to go back down. The thing is, if I get him then, he is ready for another sleep within an hour or two but he fights that nap and screams the whole time until I finally get him. Then he is so exhausted come 5 p.m. that he really needs to go to bed. We start the bedtime ritual about 6 these days because of this. It just seems like we can never get out of the house because he is either eating or needs a nap. I know it will get better but the problem is what to do in the meantime. Also - my husband NEVER can get home in time to see him before bedtime. So he really only gets time with him on the weekends. It is such a shame. I wish he was rested enough to make it a little longer - even 7 p.m. And what happens when he starts to eat with us for dinner? Do we move our dinner to 4 p.m.?

Last night was horrible. I jinxed myself. He was up every hour. We figure it had to be his teeth but it was like the old days. Put him down, he screams; pick him up, he's happy. Poor guy.

Oh - and he used to sleep in his stroller and car seat but now he won't for some reason.
