Well, rocking him only works at night. During the day he sort of gets wound up and wants to climb me or stand in my lap. If I give him the pacifier, he immediately takes it out and starts either chewing on it or banging it against me. So I reserve rocking for just a few minutes and also at night when he gets his bottle before bed.

In the morning, he is wide awake and chattering to himself. So we figure 6 a.m. is fine with us. If it were before 6, I think I would try to get him back down. But that happens rarely.

He wakes only once through the night and we still go to him and give him a feeding. Well, I hear him wake a few times a night but only once does he mean business. We have been cutting back on the amount we give him and plan to slowly just phase it out completely. My husband usually goes to him and he says he usually has a very wet diaper. That could also be a reason for his waking. He really hates being dirtly. Also, a lot of the time he is waking through the day with a poopy diaper. So the idea of not responding to his crying and then seeing he is dirty - ugh.

When he wakes from his nap, he goes from asleep to screaming his brains out. When I let him be, it gets worse and continues. When I respond, he wants out of the crib. If I pat him or try to give him his bear or paci, it just makes it worse. I've only had luck with it at night. Too bad, because that would be nice if it worked.

He eats heartily. I was nursing him up until 2 weeks ago. Now he is taking 32 ounces of formula and eating 3 meals a day. I do miss nursing but with 5 teeth I would be bound to get bitten. My son also was very easily distracted in public. Ok by me, I wasn't a big fan of nursing when we were out and about but sometimes it would have been convenient rather that returning home to nurse.
