What I do varies with how rested my baby is. If she seems to be tired, I lay down with her, give her a soother, and try again. If she doesn't seem tired, and I know that she has had other good naps, or a good nights sleep, then I don't push the issue. I let her up and we play some. If she seems tired later on, I will let her have an extra nap. I don't really stick to a schedule. I just go with the flow and care for her based on how she is feeling. Works well for us, but does mean that you have to disrupt your daily plans sometimes.
