Hi there.....I haven't read the whole Weissbluth book (just excerpts), so I can only comment from my own experience. My son is now 9 1/2 months, but when he was around 6 months he did the same thing with short naps. A lot of my friends with babies the same age said the same thing. He eventually got settled into a nap routine (2 naps per day, 45 min to 1 1/2 hrs each), but he still has his days (depending on teething, etc) when he takes 1/2 hr naps. I just usually get him up- when he's awake, he's awake. He generally won't go back to sleep. So you may find that naps will lengthen over time....good luck!
