Thank you, Stephanie! I was hoping you would answer... However, I left out some important info! Max is already exhausted by 6 p.m. every night! We would keep him up later if we could! He starts getting fussy around 5:30. We tried putting him to sleep earlier than usual AND later than usual, to no avail! He's not yet a good napper, so he's tired when it starts getting dark. I've been told not to go into his nursery when he wakes up at 5, and just let him talk, fuss, cry, etc. until the "appropriate" 6 o'clock hour. Have you ever heard of using a timer on a lamp, set to turn on at the acceptable wake-up hour? I don't know if that would work with an 8-mo-old.
If we get up with him when his body clock wakes him up at 5 a.m. he's ready to go back to bed for a 40 minute nap at 6:15 or so! Which seems to tell me that he's still very tired and should have just slept until 6! UGH. I keep trying to follow his cues, but they are oh so confusing.
