my son is 9 1/2 months and he often wakes this early too. He also goes to bed at 7- and is ready to sleep at this time even after 2 naps during the day. For him, 7 is the right time- and I think bedtimes as late as 9 are too late anyway. I've found that he goes to sleep easier and sleeps better if he goes to bed by 7:30. When he wakes early, I've tried nursing him and then putting him back in the crib- not trying to get him back to sleep if he is wide awake, but just putting him in to let him know that's where he should be until 6 am. He sometimes plays, sometimes gets himself back to sleep. If he cries, I get him up. I figure that if I got even another 15 min. out of him, that will help him be in the crib longer the next day. And he does usually end up sleeping later the next day.....good luck!
