Posted by sleepygirl on February 08, 2002 at 15:09:22:Well, we had our follow up appt. They wanted to test her iron again but since my ped does an actual blood draw I didn't let them do it.
Didn't learn much new except that the baby gets its iron in the third trimester from Mom's stores and usually young firstborn infants don't have iron deficiencies. a second or third child will be more likely to have a deficiency since the firstborn depleted Mom's iron.
Anyway...we decided to see if her sleep keeps improving over the next few weeks. She can only take the iron supplement for one month. If there is not a noticeable improvement at her 4 month appt, then we see a specialist.
She's been pretty good at sleeping all week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is the iron.
