5 mo old kicks while falling asleep

My 5 mo old daughter has started kicking her legs when she falls asleep. Often it will startle her making her cry. It is happening at the beginning of every nap and can happen up to 10 times before she is able to fall asleep. She has also started doing it in her sleep in the middle of the night, but she is usually able to sleep throught it. Does anyone know what causes this or if there is anything I can do?
