waking up wailing

Posted by evie on February 14, 2002 at 11:29:44:

My 4 1/2 month wakes wailing each time. If she wakes from a 2 hours nap, she is wailing, from a 1 hour nap, wailing, in the middle of the night, wailing. I go to her room and she is wailing with eyes closed. Ive given her a couple of minutes and she wails until she is awake and wailing. I try patting her on the back, at night she might drift back to sleep but when from a nap, she wails. I have never heard this cry before. It is only upon waking. Any ideas? oNce she is fully awake she is fine, happy and content and ready to eat. What could this new cry mean? SHe is napping better during the day, used to be a catnapper, but wakes many times at night. Ususally 2 times to eat and at least 3 times where she does this wailing and most of those times I can get her back to sleep. Any ideas would be appreciated.
