My son woke this way until he was about 5 months old. He also went to sleep crying too, and like your daughter would be happy once up and fully awake. My son is almost 7 months old and he rarely wakes up this way now, nor does he cry before sleep. He was a very unsettled baby early in life in many ways but has matured into a very happy adjusted baby. All babies awaken several times a night, just like adults do. It just sounds like your daughter has not learned how to put herself back to sleep and this may continue for a few months until she matures. My advice would be to balance comforting her back to sleep while being mindful of not becoming a necessary part of her being able to fall asleep. One way to do this might be to make sure that you comfort her, but that your comforting doesn't put her to sleep. I would go to my son at night and either talk to him or pat him periodically so he knew I was available to him but would not rock, pat or nurse him to sleep. The 2 feedings a night are pretty normal but by 6-8 months these usually become nutritionally unecessary.
Good luck!
