Posted by Sandman on April 29, 2002 at 16:02:08:As you know this forum has been closed for a while. It is the most difficult forum to monitor. Many fights have broken out in the past. I am hoping to change its focus to make it better for everyone.
It can take up to 6 months for an infant to develop a daily rhythm. Until then, they will not thrive on a schedule. This can be a problem for parents who try to change this developmental process to best fit their schedule.
Why? Because it is not in the best interest of the infant.
The focus for this forum is, " Infant Sleep Disorders."
Helping each other by exchanging the sleep problems you believe your infant is suffering from, could help parents determine when they might need to see
a sleep specialist. Some crying is normal but excessive crying is not! Excessive crying could be a symptom that something is wrong & would not be healthy for the Infant. The underlying cause of the excessive crying is what needs to be investigated.
Therefore, posts encouraging excessive crying will be removed.
Just remember, all infants are different so it may not be helpful to follow another persons advice about getting your infant to sleep without a sleep specialist checking your infant.
I really want this forum to become a positive place for parents to find information about infant sleep disorders and hope this new topic format works out.
Best wishes and sweet dreams,
Sandman
