Confused Mommy,
If your baby wakes from a nap crying, I believe that the nap is not complete. You'd think a baby could sleep through their needed nap but this is not the case. My daughter did the same thing but instead of 45 mins it was 30...everytime then wake crying and be fussy until we repeated the cycle. Putting her on her tummy helped the startle reflex and helped naps, but now at 7 months she is doing better...most naps are 1 hour 15 mins and she wakes up happy. I listen out for her so i go in upon her waking so she doesnt have to cry out for me. Seems that a baby wakes crying when they are still exhausted. Went to doctor about napping problem...and it is a problem..babies need sleep to fuction and get through their day. Doctor couldnt really help...hang in there...perhaps see if the baby will return to sleep with a little fussing. I found that this would sometimes happen, but I also found any length of fussing meant she couldn;t settle back down. Also, how does your baby sleep, position... I would camp outside of our daughters door to see what was happening at the 30 minute mark. Everytime she would startle, arms fly up and when they would touch the mattress she would scream and startle again until fully awake...being on her tummy helped this problem. Hope this helps out. Please remember to discuss this with doctor. ANd continue to be thankful for the night sleep..we weren't getting night sleep and I couldnt nap during the day because of this problem.

Hope things improve.
